Pillable, a Techleft product

Medication Non-adherence, made visible.

Families and caregivers of older adults with chronic conditions often need clearer visibility when managing complex medication regimens from a distance. Pillable helps them catch missed or wrong dosages before they become a hospital visit. No scheduling. No dispenser filling. No new habits for mom or dad.

The problem

Most medication errors at home never get seen in time.

The families we meet aren't short on love or intent. They're short on quiet, reliable information about what's actually happening between visits.

01

Non-adherence is the silent crisis

Roughly half of seniors on long-term medication do not take them as prescribed. Missed and wrong doses are among the leading preventable causes of hospitalization in older adults.

02

Distance hides the details

Adult children live provinces or time zones away from the parents they care for. The small daily signals that tell you someone is living well get lost across that distance.

03

Seniors want to stay home

Quality of life at home, with the right support, consistently outpaces institutional care. Families want to honour that, without having to compromise the quality of health.

Our solution

Pillable. Human + AI, working together.

Non-invasive hardware and software that tracks pill blister-pack usage and interprets events using human-centric and AI-enabled features, built for seniors 65+ and the families who care about them. No pill scheduling. No dispenser filling. No need to be tech-savvy.

The right quiet signal, at the right moment, is worth more than a dashboard full of noise.

How we design Pillable
01

The blister pack arrives, as usual

Nothing changes about the pharmacy routine. Seniors continue using the blister packs they already know. No scheduling, no dispenser filling, no new habits to learn.

02

Pillable watches the pack, quietly

The device sits with the blister pack and logs which pockets have been opened. It senses the pack, not the room, not the person. No microphones, no tracking of movement or speech.

03

AI translates events into meaning

Instead of a firehose of notifications, family members see a calm, interpreted picture: today went well, yesterday ran late, this week is drifting.

04

Humans stay in the loop

When something looks off, phone calls come with a clear message. Not just assumptions. Eyes on the ground, without being in the way.

Privacy by design

Senses the pack, nothing else

Pillable only registers which blister-pack pockets have been opened. Not the room, not the person, not their routine.

No microphones

The device has no audio sensors. It does not listen to conversations or ambient sound.

Your care circle, your data

Medication events are shared only with the family members and care circle the senior chooses. Never sold, never advertised against.

Why we started

“We kept seeing the same gap, between seniors who aged at home and those who didn't. Pillable is our attempt to close it, one pill at a time.”

A senior receiving care at home

Pillable was co-founded by a caregiver and an engineer who watched, up close, how thin the margins of home-based care can be. The product is built around a simple belief: that the right quiet signal, at the right moment, is worth more than a dashboard full of noise.

Research study

Help us learn how families manage medications from a distance.

We're talking to family caregivers of older adults with chronic conditions to understand the real, everyday work of managing prescription medications, especially when you can't always be there in person. What we learn shapes what Pillable becomes.

Who we're looking for

Family caregivers (typically 40+) supporting an older adult who takes prescription medications for a chronic condition.

What's involved

A 5-minute poll, or a relaxed 30-minute conversation by phone, video, or in person. Your choice.

What we'll talk about

  • 01What a typical medication week looks like for the person you support
  • 02The last time something went wrong. What happened, how you found out
  • 03How you check in on medications when you are not physically there
  • 04The tools, routines, or workarounds you have built to make this easier

Questions families ask

The things you are wondering.

Do not see your question? Email us and we'll answer directly.

  • Does my parent have to learn anything new?

No. Pillable works with the blister pack they already get from the pharmacy. There is nothing to fill, schedule, or operate. The device sits quietly in the background.

  • What happens if a dose is missed?

A real person reviews the event first, not just an algorithm. Most single missed doses do not need a phone call. When something looks genuinely off, we let you know with context, not alarm.

  • Does it need Wi-Fi?

Pillable works with common home Wi-Fi. For homes without reliable internet, we offer a cellular option so the device stays connected on its own.

  • What does the device actually sense?

Only the blister pack. Specifically, which pockets have been opened. Pillable does not track the person, the room, movement, or speech. There is no microphone.

  • Who sees the data?

Only the family members invited by the senior or primary caregiver. Data is never sold or shared with advertisers. We use it solely to improve adherence insights for the family.

  • How much does it cost?

We are still in pilot, so pricing is not final. Participants in the research study get early access at no cost during the pilot period.
